Yes, water infiltration under the copper hip cap is my concern too. But I'm told the copper is wide enough over the hip joint to keep water out. I'd like to get a roofer's opinion. Thanks! |

I'm not a roofer. What would prevent water from going underneath the copper. I'm not sure on the orientation but that looks like a terrible job. Is that copper face nailed too? |

Is this right? On old slate roof, badly tarred hip slates were removed. A layer of water/ice shield and rolled copper are used to "cap" the hips and old tarred slate is discarded. Will the membrane and copper keep out water as installed in these photos?  |
