They perform extremely well as long as there is enough slope. They are basically a head lapped system with hooked edges. The expense of manufacturing each tile individually can be prohibitive when compared to roll forming standing seam panels. Minimum of 11 cuts plus 4 bends vs. press the button on the pan former. Also there is significantly more material used. Think about it as a transverse joint in a panel every foot. This system can easily use 25% of the material for flanges. Rauten appears to be German for those diamond/square shingles. Here's a product image from old world distributors.

What is a "rauten" metal panel? Is that a manufacturer or a panel type.? |

I can't figure out why there aren't more rauten tile roofs around. Is it simply higher cost, or do they fail to perform in certain situations? |

I have installed thousands of interlocking tiles "rauten tiles". They are fairly easy to install, chalk out the verticals and the horizontals. 1.5- 2 squares a day per person on an 18"x18" blank. Install the cleats with stainless ring shank roofing gun nails. |

Milo was right, my inability to post with firefox was a cookies setting. I changed my "Accept third-party cookies" setting from "from visited" to "always" |

I need to learn more before I give anyone a call, but thanks for the recommendation - it looks like a good one, and not too far away either. |

Catfeesh, Try calling Ken gates at Old World Distributors in Michigan. 269-207-3673. They are a great resource for that kind of stuff and can make them for you. Tell him that Crookston told you to all. Good luck. |

Check your security settings and the "enabling of cookies" as this may be your problem. Myself and others have had this problem...see here: http://www.slateroofcentral.com/messages/ whoops, wont let me put a direct link...type in "cookies" in the sites "search" box and a thread called "Deb in Baltimore" will come up. This will explain what to do to post. MILO (Message edited by Milo on December 04, 2015) (Message edited by Milo on December 04, 2015) |

I'm ashamed to ask metal questions in a slate forum, but I don't know where else to go. I was wondering if the same folding techniques used on standing seam copper roofs could be used on aluminum? Secondly, does anyone have any experience with metal shingle systems such as the 'diamond shingles' sold by Fine Metal Roof Tech?
