If it was tarred and fiberglassed, it probably had holes in it. The fix is to remove the original metal and replace it. |

I was called to look at a few chimneys that needed attention. While I was there I was asked about the gutter system. The pictures show what I saw. The metal gutters had tar applied overtop w/o fiberglass and were peeling badly, exposing bare metal. The gutters seemed solid showing only a bit of surface rust underneath the cracks. The fix? Could the tar be heated and scraped off and reapplied with fiberglass? Or could another layer of metal be bent to cover the exisitng conditions. |
