There really is no need to lay-out out this pattern with a computer, just a little forethough on how to start. Then also how many commen course to install in between the chain, so that these are place where you want them. Yes the roman numerals were cut on a CNC waterjet. And Stuart all set with the Fraulein! |

hi stuart, i was going to say we didn't use any computers on this job, but on second thought, we did. -liam built the clock and i think the roman numerals were cut on a waterjet machine, which must have a computer with software. -we ordered the slates from shawn via email -we took picture thru-out on our iphones, which are little computers. other than that, everything else was nostalgic german style universal-deckung and kettengebinde (Message edited by chris on April 28, 2012) |

The clip corners that start the pattern are called Universal cladding or Universal-Deckung then it moves in to a Ornamental chains or Kettengebinde (chain closely binding). Come on Chris you need to step it up a notch. :-)

and this was us yesterday, in red! The original slater I am sure would be proud that we noticed his work and used it as a blueprint for ours. and special thanks to shawn camara at camara slate for supplying us with this vintage, 125 yr old, ny red slate that is as strong as the day it was quarried.
