Just had an old time slater tell my customer that I installed my stainless heavy duty snow guards wrong. The quantity of the snow guards is not the issue, but rather the placement. He stated that the snow guard must be butted up against the butt end of the slate to prevent the wieght of the ice and snow from cracking the slate underneath it. I looked at the Berger Brothers website and found no information on this. What we did is use retrofit guards where we hung them on the existing slate nails, so naturally the snow guard is below the butt end of the slate. Any opinions on this would be greatly appreciated, I have a customer who is really angry with me as he felt I did a poor job becuase of the opinion of the other guy. Thanks |
