If they are the same thickness and you use the same headlap you should be fine. When striking your lines, I would recommend using two colors of chalk. One for the larger slates and one for the accent row. It will make it easier and you won't make any mistakes. Lay it all out first. |

I was wondering if there is a trick, or a potential problem to watch for, when doing the following. Eg., would there be an odd-looking "bump" on the roof at every short-slate row?: I'd like, when installing a field of salvaged grey-green 10x18s to install a row of royal purple 10x12s (I happen to have) every 5 rows or so to give a color accent to the roof. |
