Chris, Is that half round gutter? When you do another, my brother at Classic gutters will bend a raduis gutter for you, if you send him the pattern. It works better with a box or K style gutter believe it or not, but he also can bend the half round gutter. If you had the pieces bent at the arc of a 8 foot radius, you would not have one third the number of pieces to cut and fit together. The machine grabs the ends of the gutter or whatever and stretches it and then bends it around a frame of the differing radius's. A lot of "trial and error" to get it just the best as you can, but still a lot faster and neater than doing all of the small pieces. Just for your infomation. Nice work by the by! |

you know, it is funny. they talk about dissimilar metals and galvanic corrosion here is a 125 year old piece of iron rebar used for the "hoop" in the original gutter. we will recreate, but i think we will use epoxy coated rebar. why, i am not sure, as the original has held up remarkably well.

thanks guys! we are working on the gutters for the turret now. we took apart the original gutter from 1887 and are recreating it just like it was done in the day. we are working on the little "armadillo" sections, and the three piece trim goes on later. very fun stuff....will be slating the turret this week! liam, your finial is scheduled for thur or friday, i think we shall post a video to youtube.

Old School, You have me confused with with another Chris. I will take that as a compliment though, as Mr. Paulin from Ohio is one of the good guys. (Message edited by chris on April 23, 2011) |

Palin, are you working in New York City? Isn't there enough work for you in Ohio? That would be a nightmare for me. I don't like the big cities anyway, much less trying to work over there. Looks good. |
