I didn't get on the roof to see, but I imagine they were long nails or screws. I stood on a slate rock wall and reached up and put my hand on one and had somone take a picture for perspective. I have big hands, and literally, some of them were as thick as my hand would spread. I suppose 50 to 60 # / square foot in those areas. I guess it is steel construction and a plywood deck beneath it. So much slate it is almost ugly in places; but still a beautiful roof |

I'm curious as to how they fasten them to the roof. Pegs? Long, thick nails? My arms hurt just lookin' at it, but really nice. |

I think 'Rock on' would be an appropriate shout out here. How far into the ground did the foundation sink when the roof was done? |

For those that were not at the conference, some of those slates are about 6 inches thick! |
