Hi, Have installed 20 or so Random width slate roofs,Either for ourselves or on a Sub-Contract basis,When I have ordered slate have left it up to the supplier to determine the mix of slate-From 9"wide to 14"wide. Have wondered if there is a better way to order this material? Do certain widths work better together ect..Also sometimes we will install 3 different colors ,plus the random width,we just did a sub job -10's 11's 12's & 14"wide slate,3 colors(purple,Grey Green,Black)Equal percentage of the 3 colors was to be installed,the problem was the green greys 90% of them were 14" wide - 80%of blacks were 10" wide - 75% of purples were 11"wide -The job is complete and the people were well satisfied with the job.But I just would like to know how others would put in an order for This job- 30 square -20"long x Random width x 3 colors = percentage of 3 colors .
