I would not mix hot-dipped nails and stainless steel flashing, although it may be OK, but zinc and stainless don't seem to be very compatible. Stainless steel and regular steel seem to be compatible (Slate Roof Bible, 2nd edition, page 236). Why not use stainless steel nails with stainless flashing? also remember to not mix metals when coper and zinc is mixed they whil oxidize |

The coating is all zinc, weather electro or hot dipped. |

Well in Traditional Roofing #1 it tell you that a good galvanized nail will last a 100 year but, you need make sure it not electro-galvanized or alumium. I am not a 100% ,but if you do use a nail like that its best that the last dip or coat be zinc. |

How long will hot dipped galvanized nails last? copper? stainless? when using them in a slate roof. |
