Late 1800s house w/ Asbestos diamond ...

Author Message   Mike Blakemore Posted on Wednesday, August 29, 2001 - 08:03 am:        I'm interested in purchasing an old house with a damaged asbestos roof. 90% of the roof appears to be sound but there are several broken and/or missing tiles. Based on your photos and previous conversations, it sounds like if the roof is in good shape, keep it. In this case, we have a house where we will have to replace the guttering and either use replacement tiles or remove it all together. One problem with removal is the EPA and OSHA and the fact that asbestos is considered a hazardous material. The roofs are repairable and I have added a "sources of new and used asbestos tiles" section to this web site (see home page, top right area).
