I purchased a home with asbestos tiles over wood shake. The northern side has a significant amount of moss on it that I’d like to remove. A week or so ago I started into a small section while I had the pressure washer out, and believe I saw latex come off with the moss and dirt. I should have known it would turn near-white, but am disappointed with the color. I’d prefer a dark color that makes it look more like slate. I’ve seen some older pictures of the home where the tiles look near black. I love that this site seems to show the work of some real masters of restoration. I love my slate roofer Doug O’Connell of Lancaster Slate, but he’s too busy to get him to do everything. So I’m looking to see if there’s DIY work I might be able to handle to preserve the look and longevity of my asbestos roof. |
