I purchased a home with asbestos tiles over wood shake. The northern side has a significant amount of moss on it that Iíd like to remove.

A week or so ago I started into a small section while I had the pressure washer out, and believe I saw latex come off with the moss and dirt. I should have known it would turn near-white, but am disappointed with the color. Iíd prefer a dark color that makes it look more like slate. Iíve seen some older pictures of the home where the tiles look near black.

I love that this site seems to show the work of some real masters of restoration. I love my slate roofer Doug OíConnell of Lancaster Slate, but heís too busy to get him to do everything.

So Iím looking to see if thereís DIY work I might be able to handle to preserve the look and longevity of my asbestos roof.
