Yes, they were on the courtyard side of City Hall. I don't know why they were sawn. I've only seen 3 sawn cut roofs ever, but sawn roofs are discussed in the old National Slate Association's "Slate Roofs" book from 1927. I guess they're worth whatever someone is willing to pay. They'll all have to be cut down on a trimmer to be used on a standard slate roof. Someone offered it to me about 15 years ago at some outrageous price. I told them they would never sell it at that price and they'd be stuck with it another 10 years or more. I guess I was right |

Thanks John. Are you talking about Cincinnati city hall on the courtyard side? Any idea why they were saw cut in the first place? And what does anybody think these would be worth? |

I saw these when they were still on the roof about 20 years ago. These were sawn cut Buckingham slates from the back side of City Hall. The front side was red, Ludowici Flat slab shingle tile. When they replaced the roof, they put all of it back with the red Ludowici. Not sure what you'd do with all that sawn cut Buckingham unless you cut it all. |

Went to look at some 14 x24 buckingham slates off Craigslist and they are all saw cut no rough edges. Anybody seen this before? They were on a roof but doesn't look like for long. 30sq all like this. |
