Thanks. I got the samples through Echeguren Slate Inc., not sure of the broker. People tend to be less than forth-coming with that type of info around here. They don't want to look like the middle man you know.

Walter... Just for giggles I went back to "Greenstone's" site (I've been there before.) I saw Vermont slate (including dark gray) but didn't see 'Briar Hill.' Please advise. THX

My searches via internet find 'Briar Hill' and 'Buckingham Slate' coming up together quite a bit on multiple vendor-redirect sites. The dark gray with striping certainly sounds like Buckingham. The "VT Dark Grey" -part of the label sounds like a curveball.

If it's pricey, I think you'll find that it's Buckingham.

I just received some samples from a supplier hear in San Francisco, for a project I'm working on. One of the samples was labeled "VT Dark Grey/Briar Hill". It looks like a Vermont Black but with a slightly softer grain and vertical striping. Is anyone familiar with this slate? Is Briar Hill a quarry, particular pit, or a marketing name? This supplier buys through a broker in the northeast, so I'm sure they shop around. The other samples they sent were from more recognizable sources, but this one was a little off. Any help would be appreciated.
