Can anyone post some names, addresses and phone numbers for labs that test samples of roofing slate?

Dear Mr. Jenkins,
The following information is from the site
Tom Olsen, Mechanical Engineer and Stone Testing Specialist
President, Amber Consulting, Pittsford, VT
President, St. Lawrence Testing & Inspection Co., Ltd.
BTW, the main site linked to the above page is
and seems to be a good source of info about slate
properties and testing.

Thanks for that link. I have copied a bit more info from that web site (http://gamma.rwu.edu/users/pcm/pub/slate/testing.html) and the ASTM website below:
American Society for Testing and Materials, universally know as ASTM, is a non-for-profit organization which was founded in 1898 and has since blossomed into one of the largest voluntary standards development systems in the world. The reigning industry standard for roofing slate, C406-89, thus numbers among the excess of 9,000 standards published by ASTM on an annual basis, seven of which pertain directly to slate:
Reigning Roofing Standard
Standard Specification for Roofing Slate
Standard Test Methods of Flexure Testing of Slate (Modulus of Rupture, Modulus of Elasticity)
Standard Test Method for Water Absorption of Slate
Standard Test Method for Weather Resistance of Slate

C406-00 Standard Specification for roofing slate
Developed by Subcommittee: C18.03
Adoptions: Building Codes;
Book of Standards Volume: 04.07
1.1 This specification covers the material characteristics, physical requirements, and sampling appropriate to the selection of SLATE for use as ROOF shingles.
1.2 SLATEs not included in this specification are those containing soft carbonaceous ribbons. The wide variation in physical properties and composition of such ribbon SLATEs render their service life uncertain under some conditions of use.
