I went to Scott Stone construction for my slate roof. His work was very professional not like hacks I've delt with before. I highly recommend. Scott Stone Bus line- 978-985-6517 He's in ma |

Right, so I've read the postings now on fake slate on the rest of this site that I missed in my haste to post the above. The last posting on this topic appears to be last year. If anyone has anything new to say, please do. It's clear that proper installation is a must. Thanks. |

I have a carriage house, c. 1880 in Boston, MA that originally had a slate roof, now long gone. It has a very leaky asphalt shingle roof (on top of a shake roof) that I intend to have stripped and replaced this year. I don't want asphalt again and probably can't afford real slate. The fake slates interest me. Can anyone comment on it's quality, ease of installation, price, good/bad points? Which manufacturers are good ones? Does anyone know of someone in this area with experience installing this product? --FYI carriage house is 25' x 30', w/very steep roof, probably even 60 pitch, ridge running the longer direction, short hips on both gable ends. Appropriate flashing also required. Thanks, J. Damora |
