That would be fine. If fact, they will fit better. I have tried to do repairs with some thicker slates before and it is really hard to do. they fight you. A 1/16 of an inch is not going to be noticeable. Have at it. Good luck.

I have a slate roof that's about 1/4" thick.

I have several (50+) pieces that need replaced, and I found a guy local to me with plenty of slate. The color and age matches well, but his are thinner. About 3/16"

So, how big/little of a sin is it to patch in with thinner slates? Will it be OK (even if not ideal) to use 3/16" slate on my 1/4" roof?
