Yes, Hall Hooks, but I'd prefer center nails like John said to Hall Hooks.

I have never seen them. If there is a void, I will normally nail it and put a bib over the nail

Are there available pre-made slate hooks, which can accommodate bad decking? For plywood decking this is not an issue, but for board decking there can be knots or defects in the wood at just the wrong place. If using hooks this presents a problem as the sharp end must be manually bent to reach a new place in the decking.
