I am supplying slate to a customer. He wants a "honed" slate roof. Has anyone ever done anything like this, or what could I use to give the new slate a softer appearence?

The only thing I've seen is a gauged back so the slate lays flatter but never a honed roof. I know when I used to work at Sheldon Slate in New York we used to hone alot of slate but never roofing slate.

Why would he/she want the slate sharpened?
