i have one side of a roof with 14x20" slate in an open slating pattern. what is the best way to replace slates on this roof?
there are some face nailed slates as it is. is face nailing the only way to repair? if yes, where should the nails be located?
the slates are 14" wide by 20" tall, 2" headlap.
please help!
thank you!

Use slate hooks (http://www.slateroofcentral.com/store_nails.html).
