Depends on the thickness
1/4" thick 850 to 900 pounds per square
3/8" thick 1200 pounds per square +/-
1/2" thick 1800 pounds per square+/-
3/4" thick 2700 pounds per square+/-
1' thick 3600 pounds per square +/-

+/-A few hundred pounds either way

I just had two squares of 1/4" VT purple slate shipped to the west coast and the weight exceeded 1,800 pounds.
