I can't think of a more sustainable roofing material than slate. Although I think most of the Leed standards are heavily influenced by building material producers who are pushing "innovative" products that are really just snake oil. They are only looking for high-tech so slate doesn't show up on their radar.

Does anyone have clear, definitive information about slate roofing and how it relates to:

*** The Cool Roof Rating Council ... solar emittance, thermal emittance, etc?

*** US Green Building Rating System ... LEED credits for 'Heat Island Effect,' Recycle Content, use of Regional Materials, etc?

Thank you for any and all help.
