Alexa- slate is sold by the 100 sq ft- there are charts to tell you how many slates of _____? size/thickness are in a square(100 sq ft)- divide this number per square into price quotes per square you can get on the phone and you'll have a piece price- then try to determine the variety of your slate- if, as you say, it's from the 20's I'd venture most anyone with first-hand knowledge is not likely to still be with us- so your info may be of rumor and the like- anyone involved in your process(restoration) including yourself needs to seek/provide accurate findings/etc. to keep quality control and finished results from plummeting to an unfortunate place- to try to avoid that, you're gonna' need lots of help of the best quality and contracts? and ?? Please check in from time to time so we may help you to shepherd your roof- we're all friends here, you bet! Good luck!

I have a slate roof that recently had both fire and wind damage for which I am having a difficult time finding someone to repair it.
From what I understand the original owners imported the slate from Europe in the 20's.
From reading some of the posting here can someone confirm the price of a piece of slate for me? My slate pieces are approximately 4 x 12." This is a guess. If needed I can measure one.
Also, can anyone recommend someone to repair the roof? I am located in Northeast AL?
