Sir:

I have a total loss on my asbestos roof. I am trying to replace with something as durable . I was told about 'fiber cement shingles'. My question is, what would be the approximate cost for this type of roof?

What is a square , when it comes to roofing? Is it a 10'x 10' area ?

I appreciate your help.

Sonny, I am not familiar with either of these products, but I would recommend natural slate to be your most durable option. Natural slate can range anywhere from the mid $200's and up, depending on color, size and thickness. Yes, a square is 100 square feet.

Slate - the natural roofing material.
