According to the manufacturer, the fleece-backed, TPO membrane can be applied in retrofit applications directly to rough surfaces, including a wooden roof deck, after the substrate is inspected and issues (such as rot and protruding nail heads) are addressed. I assure you we took great care in the preparation of the substrate. With respect to your question about TPO being "green" roofing, the material we installed is the first thermoplastic roofing membrane to greatly reduce the effects of microbial growth, and the subsequent staining and loss of reflectivity. I wasn't referring to the rooftop planting-style of "green" roofing. I was referring to "green" building practices. See the definition below: "'Green building' (also known as green construction or sustainable building) refers to a structure, system and/or process that is environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building's life-cycle: from siting to design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation, and demolition. This practice expands and complements the classical building design concerns of economy, utility, durability, and comfort." While its certainly not as "green" as slate, the system we installed is about as environmentally responsible as one can be. Thanks! Carl Rivera Olde Mohawk Inc |

What about the decking and the nails in it? Aren't you worried about them working back out and throught TPO? There isn't any kind of backer-board? Just wondering. You say green roofing, is TPO consider green or is there another later of plant material going on? |

Nice stuff Ward. I like the "rosettes" in the field. We did something almost identical in Kaloamazoo about 25 years ago. It is still a looker after that time and your building will be too. John |

Always wondered how you guys got up above a porch. Impressive. Is the deck nailed to a ledger? That's a beautiful house-can't wait to see when it's done. |

Nice stuff! I am going to speak on safety at the meeting and I like the way you did the set-up on that. In fact, you have exactly the same type of scaffold we use. nice pattern on the clipped corner slate by the way. |
