I checked out the paradigmshingle.com site. I like the idea of the copper shinge. The gutters and downspots, although now painted white are actually all copper. If the copper roof is affordable, then it might be the perfect option for replacement. Thanks. |

This is an American Colonial asbestos shingle. It hasn't been made in decades, but there's still some around. You can talk to Steve Cluxton at Durable Slate. The website address is www.durableslate.com or call 614-299-5522. There's also 2 different sizes, a 28" version and a 30" version. |

You could use www.paradigmshingles.com there metal shingles would work. |

The bottoms are rectangular, but if you took one off you would see that the tops come to a point in the middle. That is so that they could be nailed. I may have about 20 of them laying out back, but that is all. those haven't been made for a long time. A shingle that kind of looks like that is the GAFELK capstone shingle. Just a little bit. The old GAF NorEaster shingle looked a bit like that but I don't think they are made anymore. As far as what tile would look like that...Nothing I know of. Possibly one of the metal tile shingles? |

I have a house which was built after WWII. It's a well designed house, and I'd like to maintain that look. The siding and the roof are asbestos. The roof leaks, and a tree fell on it a few years ago adding to the problem. I'm weighing replacing the roof v repairing. But, it really does seem that there would be a longer life span for a new roof. Two questions: 1) When does it become a better choice to replace rather than restore the roof? 2) What tiles on the market would closely match the look of asbestos shingles. |
