I'm trying to find a source of new material to use to replace a worn out asbestos diamond pattern shingle on an historic building. They really want to try to replicate what is now on the roof. We have discussed using my salvage Monson slate as a backup if nothing can be found. does any one have any ideas? Thank you very much. |

Have you checked the asbestos tile source list at http://www.jenkinsslate.com/asbestos-tiles.html? Also, in that situation, we often have to remove a section of tiles from an unseen section of roof and use those tiles to repair the visible roof, then re-roof the unseen section (side of a dormer, for example) with slate or other non-matching asbestos tiles. Barry Smith has a lot of new rectangular asbestos tiles (I think 8x16, light gray) - 814-438-2717. |

We need to replace the whole roof, but want to use a material to duplicate the diamond pattern. VM zinc produces an Adecka tile which has a similar look, but I was hoping to find other sources. |

Salvaged Monson slate would be the best bet, by far, I would assume. |
