isn't it obvious the system we've set up isn't working? license, ins, bonding, bbb, etc... those scumbags find ways around that stuff easily. if credentials were more proof based i could see trusting that system but all i know from all those things is that person can run a business. HO's feel as though they can count on those things and are left in the cold when it doesn't work out. it's a shame that same system has no place for the victims. i know tons of people in tears about their slate roofs, many to the point of even blaming the slate! but i don't know of any relief for them. they counted on the license, the ins and the bbb, etc.. and ended up getting screwed. this is a serious problem that needs to be addressed asap. |

Well, I got a call from the HO. He had them come back out. That bus. rep/owner said that just because another roofer doesn't like their style of roofing doesn't mean their way is wrong. Sure put me in my place! He also said that HO had a1 yr. warranty and since it isn't leaking, it's not an issue and they would fix it if it did leak. There are a few hundred broken slate on this roof. Hips and ridges not pointed. None of these issues were addressed, other than to smear some caulk across a few of the broken slate as shown in my photo above. HO was practically in tears. Boy, at least they make it easy to look good. Lots of those bigger firms send kids out there to do repairs and they dont even look over what they did. I bet they appreciate you after it is fixed correctly. |

Yes, Buckinghams. With 6 year eg nails. Owner wanted it done so he'd never have to touch it again. Really sad. Slate Roof Repairs, Richmond, Va.

That looks like Buckingham slate too. What a shame they don't have a clue what to do. I have to admit that the black mammy all over the joints gives it a nice touch! NOT! At least they used copper nails in the joints...NOT! They have a bit to learn about proper setback yet too. Sheesh!!! |

Another quality job by my competitor. I think it's the third I'v elooked over this year. The customers made sure they were licensed, insured, and bonded each time. Pretty classy job.
Might have to change the thing about waht to look for in a contractor. A little note about the few craftsmen who work alone and don't need all that qualifing. Especially if we have to keep coming back to fix these messes. It seems to be a trademark for this company.
They sure are creative, aren't they?
The last pic in line is the one I took before I removed afew by the pipe to see what I'd find.
